Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Manager

Our client is a plc investment organisation focussed on investing in developing business globally, particularly in Africa and Asia. By promoting commercial business in these countries it is contributing to the reduction of poverty worldwide.

Our client required someone with expertise in social responsible investment (SRI) and sustainability best practice. This would also need to be an individual who was capable of managing a small team of analysts and would have a ‘hands-on' approach, with the ability to communicate quite complex messages to fund managers working across the 74 active locations worldwide. There would be an expectation of extensive travel for the successful applicant, potentially spending 30% of their time abroad in sub-Saharan Africa, working with Low-Income and Developing Countries. The recruitment brief involved assessing the suitability candidates for the role of ESG Manager.

It was imperative to ensure that there was a good fit for the role and for the organisation. The organisation's position in the market and its remit are fairly unique, equally so too were the skills required.

Alpine Executive carried out an extensive appraisal of suitable candidates and used appropriate psychometric tools to ensure that particular areas of interest/concern were probed extensively. We were able to give a detailed evaluation of shortlisted candidates so that the client was able to make an informed decision about which candidate was best suited to the post.
